:Kicking the weekend off with a remote start from Mattituck. We will ride through a series of North Fork towns on the bay side to Orient Point, and then back to Mattituck on the Sound side.
The starting location has multiple bathrooms available, along with a Starbucks, a Bagel Shop and a Walgreens. Pending on how the riders feel, there will be opportunities to stop for restrooms/snacks in Greenport, Orient Point and Peconic.

Southaven County Park – Yaphank to Pine Barrens
:Must Cancel – Will try next Thursday. C+ ride starts at Southaven County Park – Yaphank, going thru the Pine Barrens and passing by nature preserves and farms on low and medium traffic roads. Intermittent rolling hills throughout with a 570’ vertical climb. Food stop at the Bagel & Bean at the 19 mile mark. I am targeting a 14-15 mph pace, but will adjust depending on the riders’ abilities. Ride starts at 10:00a from the Southaven County Park, 761 Victory Ave, Yaphank, about 1 mile east of exit 56 off Sunrise Hwy. Park in NW corner near restrooms. RSVP suggested, not required. :This ride will take us onto the Vanderbilt Motor Parkway into Queens. We will pass through the historic community of Forest Hills Gardens, ride through Forest Park, visit the historic Forest Park Carousel, and stop at Eddie’s Sweet Shop in Forest Hills for some of the best tasting ice cream and homemade whipped cream on the planet! On the return, we will stop off at the Kissena Velodrome, and take a lap or two if you wish. Do not expect to return until about 3:30 – 4:00 pm. Bring a lock.

It’s generally flat with light traffic in most areas, but there are numerous turns. Also, some detouring is possible due to flooding in the low lying areas. Some roads may have puddles or sand.
