The Massapequa Park Bicycle Club (MPBC) was founded in 1970 by a few bicycling enthusiasts who wanted to get together for some recreational rides on weekends. The club was incorporated in 1974 and since then it has grown steadily in size.
To some of our members, the ideal ride is a leisurely trip to a pleasant cafe for brunch. For others, it’s hammering in a 20+ mph paceline. There are some who say that nothing beats the fun of climbing over fallen trees on a twisting single-track trail in the woods. Some members like to move from one kind of riding to another as the seasons change. We even have a bunch that isn’t satisfied with just riding, so they run off to duathlons and triathlons whenever they get the chance. Whatever your abilities and interests may be, the chances are good that you’ll find kindred spirits in MPBC.
We like to socialize as much as we like to ride. Besides mixing at our monthly meetings, we have our annual picnic and our annual dinner-dance in January. Our biggest event though, the one that we hold every summer, is the Tour of the Hamptons.
Monthly Meetings
MPBC meets on the first Monday of every month. Meetings begin at 7:30 pm. Meetings are held at the Massapequa Park Village Hall, 151 Front Street – Basement Level, Massapequa Park (Just North of Sunrise Highway).*
*Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been holding our monthly meetings via Zoom.
Community Service
MPBC is a community-oriented club.
- We march in the Massapequa Park July 4th parade
- We donate bicycles to Bike for Kids
