The Ride of the Ancient Mariner

Massapequa Park Bicycle Club is pleased to announce that The Ride of the Ancient Mariner, our annual early summer century ride, will be returning in 2024.

On Saturday June 15th , MPBC members will ride a club century from Massapequa Park to Montauk Point and arrange for a group ticket back home on the LIRR. The club will also rent a truck to transport everyone’s bicycles safely back to the starting point.

The full Ride of the Ancient Mariner is 107 miles to the town of Montauk, and 118 miles for those adding on a visit to the Lighthouse. Per tradition, riders will plan for a meal at one of the many restaurants in Montauk before returning home.

MPBC will also offer two shorter round-trip options starting from Massapequa Park. These shorter courses will be offered at a lower price and will not require getting on a train at any point!

Participants have the option of joining one of the following rides:

Classic Ancient Mariner (107 miles): 7:00 AM departure from Massapequa Park LIRR to Montauk, with LIRR and bike transport back to the starting point.

Metric Mariner (62 miles): 7:00 AM departure from Massapequa Park LIRR (MPRR). Route will guide you out to Bellport and back to MPRR

Sub Mariner (30 miles): 7:00 AM departure from Massapequa Park LIRR (MPRR). Route will guide you out to Oakdale and back to MPRR.

* MPBC membership is required. Non-Members have the option to join the ride via membership registration.
