Tour of the Hamptons

The 2021 MPBC Tour of the Hamptons is Cancelled

Due to the club not receiving all of the necessary permit approvals at this late date, regrettably, we must cancel the Tour of the Hamptons for 2021.
With only 31 days left, there is simply not enough time to promote and execute a safe and proper Tour.
The one silver lining in this cloud is that this might be a blessing in disguise for us, given the accelerating surge of the COVID-19 Delta variant, coupled with the possibility of another Labor Day surge (as we saw in 2020).
We certainly hope and pray for better days ahead in 2022.

MPBC’s marquee annual event for almost thirty years, Tour of the Hamptons is a bicycle tour open to the general public to promote cycling, provide riders of all skill levels the opportunity to navigate the picturesque roads of Long Island’s South Fork, and raise funds for local charities, high school scholarships and the club’s own philanthropic programs.

Tour of the Hamptons winds through the flat terrain and rolling hills of the South Fork, passing farmland, beaches, wooded areas, mansions, and historic villages such as East Hampton, Wainscott, Sag Harbor, Amagansett and Montauk, before returning to its starting point in Southampton. The Tour features routes of 25, 53, 70 and 105 miles to suit all levels of cyclists, including scheduled 25-mile group rides led by our club’s experienced Ride Leaders.

MPBC donates a generous portion of The Tour’s proceeds to the following organizations:

  • Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreation Center
  • The Retreat (East Hampton)
  • Southampton Fresh Air Home
  • Maureen’s Haven (Riverhead)
  • New York Bicycling Coalition.

Tour of the Hamptons also funds annual scholarship awards at Southampton, East Hampton and Massapequa High Schools, as well as Club initiatives such as Bikes for Kids.

All rides begin/end at Southampton High School, 141 Narrow Lane, Southampton, NY 11968 and will follow the standard TOH routes.

Suggested start times: 105 miles 7:00 am; 70 Miles 8:00 am; 53 miles 9:00 am; 25 miles 10:00 am

Helmets, Mask, Hand Sanitizer & Proper bike gear required.

MPBC is open again and running weekly club rides for all active members. If you are interested in joining our club, we offer all prospects one free ride as an opportunity for us to meet each other and to share what we are all about.
