The Massapequa Park Bicycle Club (MPBC) was founded in 1970 by a few bicycling enthusiasts who wanted to get together for some recreational rides on weekends. The club was incorporated in 1974 and since then it has grown steadily in size. It has also grown in its interests so that today it's a 400-member organization active in most aspects of bicycling.
Rest Break at Calvin Coolidge Home, Vt
at the top of Hysteria Hill (really).
To some of our members the ideal ride is a leisurely trip to a pleasant cafe for brunch. To others it's hammering in a 20+ mph paceline. There are some who say that nothing beats the fun of climbing over fallen trees on a twisting single-track trail in the woods. Some like to move from one kind of riding to another as the seasons change. We even have a bunch that isn't satisfied with just riding so they run off to duathlons and triathlons whenever they get the chance. Whatever your abilities and interests may be the chances are good that you'll find kindred spirits in MPBC.
We like to socialize as much as we like to ride. Besides mixing at our monthly meetings, our annual picnic and our annual dinner-dance, we'll take off on a getaway weekend every so often. In the spring and summer the club runs a couple of cycling weekends at hostel-style lodges. Each winter, after the holidays are over we'll do the same on a ski weekend. Our biggest event though, the one that we hold every summer, is the Tour of the Hamptons.
Monthly Meetings
(No this is NOT our meeting place. This is the porch of the ski house we rent in Vermont every summer).
MPBC meets on the first Monday of every month. Meetings begin at 8pm. Meetings are held at the Massapequa Park Village Hall, 151 Front Street - Basement Level, Massapequa Park (Just North of Sunrise Highway). For further information and to learn more about MPBC check us out on the web at www.massparkbikeclub.org or call (516) 581-3819.

We donate bicycles. MPBC also provides financial support to the following Long Island organizations:
In the same way that MPBC supports other organizations in their community activities, many sponsors in turn support MPBC. Besides providing direct support, most of our retail sponsors also support the club indirectly by offering MPBC members a discount on their merchandise.
Affiliations
MPBC is affiliated with the following local and national bicycling advocacy organizations:
MPBC members receive the club's monthly newsletter, Cranky Creations. Each issue includes articles written by members, announcements, minutes of meetings, classified ads, the president's message and the schedule of current rides and events.
