Road Bike Fitting

Postby John B on Thu Oct 30, 2008 9:29 pm

Hi, I am interested in purchasing a road bike and was hoping that someone could direct me to a good bike shop on LI that will do a detailed fitting rather than a cursory fitting (standing over the top tube) that some shops do. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

John

I reconmend to you Brands. They have a nice fitting room now. Byron did a quick fit on my bike and I've been happy with it. I have heard Sunrise Tri does a great fit as well. I believe it's free if you purchase a bike from them. JoAnn would probably know better on this.

sorry for digging up a old topic, but Sunrise Tri does do a "Pro" fit that is included free when you purchase a bike. They also do a "Pre" fit to get basic measurements so you know exactly what size frame to order. Also the pre fit might direct you to some bikes that are a better fit vs some that will be a poorer fit.

My son purchased his Cervelo P2 TT bike there and the "Pro" fit is a number of hours long and includes being fitted on a Fit Bike where it is fully adjustable and they take video use a computer to make measurements. The data is recorded and is transferred to the bike you purchase. It's also reproducible if you have multiple bikes.

I just purchased a bike, from a store my son works at where he did an initial fit. Since i'm just starting out on a road bike I will wait till the spring after I have some miles and get in better shape and then i'll get a Pro fit at Sunrise Tri.
