Like the previouse respondent said all of the above is quite adiquate and as for the multi-tool, I've found that Topeke makes a good quality product. You should look for one that has several Allen wrenches, both Philips and flat head skrewdrivers and although rarely used a chain tool is a good thing to have if the situation arrises when you need one. What else you might want to bring along on a long ride depends on how much space you have in your pockets or the accesories you have attached to your bike but I find it's a good idea to carry a small first aid kit with just some band-aids, disinfecting wipes and some antiseptic packets. In addition many people I know sometimes carry an energy bar of one kind or another in case you get the munchies and the group your with decides not to make a deli stop.

At the recommendation of my son, I purchased a Topeak Hexus II

http://www.topeak.com/products/Tools/hexus2
Image
Code: Select all
Tools   16 total
Allen Wrenches    2/2.5/3/4-2 piece/5/6/8mm
Spoke Wrenches    15g/14g
Chain Tool    Cast CrMo Steel
Chain Hook    Steel Wire
Tire Levers    Two Engineering Grade Plastic Levers
Screw Drivers    #2 Phillips & Flat Head
Torx Bit    T25
Tool Material    Hardened Steel
Body    Engineering Grade Plastic
Size (L x W x H)    9.5 x 4.4 x 2.6 cm
3.7” x 1.7” x 1”
Weight    167 g / 5.88 oz

I added a CO2 head with 2 cartridges and a spare tube.

I'll toss in a set of latex gloves since the weigh nothing and take up almost no room.

All this easily fits in my under seat bag and there's still room for my cell phone and some cash.
