Tom Marcone led 11 of us to Bayville on Sunday. I was going to lead going back a new way we tried Friday maybe 40 miles. Well we almost went to Bayville anyway. We stopped at the deli in Oyster Bay for a much needed nature call (phew) and lost Hutch and Trey who both had reasons to do a shorter ride. Off we went, up Oyster Bay Rd, then heading down, and I heard Mary in front of me crunch over some glass and then BAM! Tom and Robin and Bob K worked on the deep dish rim for a really LONG time. In the meantime we saw many riders all asking if we needed help, I said yes but none stopped. Then the Clydesdales that live on Chicken Valley Rd came by pulling a huge wagon. That made my day! I've only ever seen them in their field, I didn't know they actually were used for riding or driving. They paid me no mind just like when I stop near their field to admire them.
Finally Beth shoved the guys (who had already gone through two tubes) out of the way and got the tire fixed. When you need a good man for the job find a woman

But it was already 11:15 and we decided to head back, cutting out the Bayville portion of the ride. Thank goodness we made that stop at the deli before!
No more incidents and we ended up with 32 miles.
I am heading to Vermont Thursday and camping upstate the following weekend, see you all after that.
